Last week, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with the heads of the offices of the United Nations and its agencies accredited in the country and the region. A number of participants took advantage of the video communication capabilities. Among them are representatives of the Office of the Resident Coordinator, the UN Development Program, UNICEF, WHO, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the Office of Drugs and Crime UN (UNODC), UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), International Organization for Migration (IOM), International Labor Organization (ILO), etc. At the meeting also attended the specialists from the United Nations Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia. During the meeting, a constructive exchange of views took place on the effective implementation of the plans and projects for the current year. In this regard, the importance of agreements signed in December last year on cooperation between Turkmenistan and an international organization, including 44 documents, was noted. Among the main areas of interaction between Turkmenistan and the UN are education, health care and social services, food security and ecology. The issues of implementation of the Framework Program for Cooperation in the Field of Sustainable Development between the Government of Turkmenistan and the United Nations for 2021-2025 were also considered. During the meeting, an assessment of the results of joint work was given. Representatives of international structures highly appreciated the activities of Turkmenistan in the implementation of joint agreements. The participants of the meeting noted the significance of the International Year of Peace and Trust, the opening of which took place the other day in Ashgabat. In this context, they discussed the activities laid down in the "Road Map" of this year, which will make a worthy contribution to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals within the framework of the 2030 Agenda.
On July 30, 2020, another online meeting was held to study the issues of Turkmenistan's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO). Deputy Foreign Minister V. Hajiyev, as well as heads and representatives of sectoral ministries and departments, took part in the negotiations from the Turkmen side. The WTO office was headed by Ms. Maika Oshikova. During the video meeting, the parties exchanged views on Turkmenistan's membership in the WTO as an observer. Also, at the meeting, issues of continuation of work to strengthen cooperation between the WTO and Turkmenistan were discussed.
Recently, new retail outlets of the Ministry of Textile Industry began their work, which opened their doors to customers on A. Niyazov Street, opposite the building of the Turkmen State Institute of Finance. Currently, "Parahat" shops of the Parahat factory, "Goza" textile complex of the city of Ashgabat, "Bedev" Turkmenbashy jeans complex, "Yenish" of the Yenish factory in Mary and the "Gala" store of Gokdepe textile began to sell their textiles along this street.
On April 10, in Ahal, with the participation of the Honorable President, the foundation of the new city was laid. It will be built more than 400 cottages and high-rise buildings. All the conditions for living, recreation and a healthy lifestyle for both children and adults will be created in these houses. In the new city, 10 kindergartens for 320 places each and 19 secondary schools for 720 places each, primary and secondary specialized educational institutions, as well as two art schools will be built. A health care organization network will be established in the city. A Health House, a Center for Maternal and Child Health, and other hospitals and clinics will be built. In the new velayat center, the Ruhyýet Palace, the House of Culture, the building of the Dramatic Theater, the library, the circus and the museum will be built. Two buildings of a modern sports complex will be built. A green park will be created for the recreation of citizens. Shopping and entertainment center will serve the population. In addition, in the new city it is planned to build the Higher International School of Horse Breeding with its hippodrome, training ground, riding school and stables, and the Research and Production Center. The city will create an infrastructure for management, business, consumer services, and transportation. All conditions will be created here for living, working and relaxing for all citizens who will live here.
